Dantewada near Geedam

Dantewada is one the ancient towns in India. It is located at a distance of 3 Km from Geedam. The main attraction of this town is the Goddess Danteswari Temple. This temple is known to be one of the Shaktipeethas of India. The temple is built using the Dravidian (South Indian) style of architecture. The temple is located at a place where the two rivers Shankini and Dhankini converge. Another temple popular in this town is the Bhairm Baba temple.

Bailaldila

Bailaldila is a mountain range that looks like the hump of an ox. This mountain is popular all over the world for its rich of iron ore deposits. The iron found on this mountain is of rich quality. As many as 14 deposits have been found till date out of which only three deposits are used for mining purpose.
The mountain is divided into two parts namely Bacheli and Akash Nagar. The iron ores are found on Akash Nagar mountain range which is the peak of the mountain. The journey from Bacheli to Akash Naagr is very beautiful and the tourist cannot take their eyes of the views that are mesmerizing. Another range on this mountain called the Kailash Nagar also offers enchanting views to the visitors. This range consists of Blue Dust deposits which are very rare to be found.

Barsur

To the north of Geedam is a small village called Barsur. This place was a powerful city during ancient rule of Gangawanshi rulers in the 804 AD. The city once had 147 majestic temples and ponds. Even though the city lost its charm and also the temples, one can see some historical remains of that past glory in the temples of Battisa and Chandraditya.

Bodhghat Sath Dhar

Bodhghat Sath Dhar is a beautiful place where one can see the River Indravati getting divided into seven portions and take shape of a beautiful waterfall. The waterfall is surrounded by woods and mountains making it a breathtaking view for the tourists. This place is a great location for picnics and trekking.

Memory Pillars of Gamawada

The tiny village of Gamawada lies on the route to Bacheli. The village is popular for the stone pillars that have been erected by the local tribal as part of their traditions some hundreds of years ago. They stand in the memory of ancestors of the ancient dwellers.

Geedam is beautiful town that is mostly occupied by the local tribals of Chattisgarh. Being a small place, there is not much of a development seen in this part of the state.
